PowerMEMS in Action is a featured session of PowerMEMS+ 2026, dedicated to showcasing micro-power supplies, energy harvesting systems, self-powered sensing applications, and proof-of-concept prototypes.
As PowerMEMS technologies continue to advance in maturity, performance, and practical relevance, this session provides a platform for researchers to demonstrate their work and highlight its application potential. To better accommodate different types of presentations, PowerMEMS in Action now includes two formats:
- Live Demonstration Track - on-site demonstrations during the conference
- Video Demonstration Track - recorded demonstrations presented in video format
Objectives
- Showcase operating devices and systems to validate the technology and encourage adoption
- Demonstrate implementation know-how and system integration
- Present new concepts and emerging technologies
- Promote discussion on maturity, limitations, and challenges
- Encourage innovation toward practical applications
Submission Categories
Submissions are welcome in the following three categories for both tracks:
- Applications and case studies
Demonstrations of wireless sensors or other applications powered by miniature power sources or energy harvesting devices. The advantages and relevance of the power solution should be clearly explained.
- Device or system prototypes
PowerMEMS devices, materials, circuits, and systems. Submissions should highlight complete operation, key performance metrics, and the novelty and/or maturity of the solution.
- Novel concepts, approaches, or methods
New mechanisms, principles, or methods with strong novelty and potential impact, even if the level of maturity is still limited.
Submission Requirements
Proposed demonstrations should be submitted in the same format as regular conference papers. Authors should indicate that the paper is intended for the PowerMEMS in Action session, specify the appropriate classification number, select the preferred track (Live Demonstration or Video Demonstration), and indicate the submission category (Applications / Prototypes / Concepts).
The submission should clearly describe the principle of operation and the implementation or potential implementation of the work. For device or system prototypes, authors should provide appropriate measured performance metrics, including normalized metrics where relevant.
Presentation and Awards
Each accepted contribution will include:
- a 2-minute pitch during the conference, and
- either a live on-site demonstration or a video demonstration
All demonstrators will be evaluated by a panel. To recognize excellence in both formats, separate awards will be presented for:
- Best Live Demonstration Award
- Best Video Demonstration Award
Evaluation will consider technical quality, clarity of presentation, innovation, level of maturity, and potential impact.
In addition, all teams selected for the Live Demonstration Track will receive a participation incentive in recognition of their on-site contribution.
